The first people to be considered citizens were free white males. Native Americans weren't even considered citizens. -
1800s
White men, woman, and children were only considered citizens and white males were able to vote around the 1830s without even having to own property. -
1900s
economic and political views were becoming stronger and people were pushing for equal rights at this time, mostly all races were citizens (black, white, indian, etc) but people still had different viewpoints on equality -
2000s
Everyone is considered a citizen , we still are pushing for more rights but it has gotten a lot better since the 19th century
