  • Complex Number Calculator

Bell telephone created this calculator. performing calculations remotely using a Teletype connected via special telephone lines. It was considered to be the first demonstration of remote computer acessing. http://www.computerhistory.org/timeline/?year=1940
  • Selective Sequence Electronic Calculator

It took up nearly a whole room and was put on public display. This calulator was used to plot the apollo course set out for the moon. It could cover over 50 multiplacations per second. http://www.computerhistory.org/timeline/?year=1948
  • UNIVAC

It was the first commercial computer to be recognized by the public. Remington sold these for over 1 million dollars a machine. This computer could preform over 1,905 operations per second. http://www.computerhistory.org/timeline/?year=1951
  • APT

First Language developed by MIT to instruct Milling machin operations. At the demonstration, the machine produced an ashtray for each attendee. http://www.computerhistory.org/timeline/?year=1959
  • DataPhone

AT&T developed the first commercial modem. It was used to convert digital data to analog siganls across long distances. this improved transmission efficiency in national and global systems.

  • System/360

This computer was made up of a family of six computers. This was during a transition from discrete transistors to integrated circuits. http://www.computerhistory.org/timeline/?year=1964
  • Kenbak-1

It was the first personal computer. it was made of standard medium-scale and small-scale integrated circuits, the Kenbak-1 relied on switches for input and lights for output. Unfortunatley the company had to close becuase they only sold 40 computers.

  • Email

The first email was accidently sent by Ray Tomlinson. He also created the sighn "@" for email purposes. http://www.computerhistory.org/timeline/?year=1971
  • Atari 400 and 800

The model 400 was introduced as a gaming console while the 800 was introduced as a home computer. These computers held strong competition with apple computers. They were defined as "micro computers." http://www.computerhistory.org/timeline/?year=1979
  • Commodore 64

This computer had 64kb of ram and impressive graphics. recognized by the 2006 Guinness Book of World Records as the greatest selling single computer model of all time becuase of the units of software sold for this computer. The C64 sold for $595. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodore_64
  • Internet

The internet first gained it popularity around this time when Univeristies and government branches started to take part in it. The NSFNET initially transferred data at 56 kilobits per second. In 1992, the network upgraded to T-3 lines, which transmit information at about 45 megabits per second. http://www.computerhistory.org/timeline/?year=1985
  • PS/2 machines

Introduced by IBM this computer had the first software to have a mouse on a IBM computer. Also made it standar to have afloppy disk on personal computers. Also,it was the first IBM to include Intel´s 80386 chip. http://www.computerhistory.org/timeline/?year=1987
  • World Wide Web

The World Wide Web was made by Tim Berners-Lee. He used specifications such as a URL. His idea was to connect peoples ideas from ouround the world into one system. http://www.computerhistory.org/timeline/?year=1990
  • Terminator 2

This was the first grounbreaking steo into better graphics and movie animation. Made by 100 million dollars worth of soending this movie was regarded as one of the most expensive movies ever made. http://www.computerhistory.org/timeline/?year=1992
  • Iomega Zip Disk

Initlal storage units stored over 100 megabytes. Later it was increased to over 2 gigabytes. This cartridge was roughly the size of a 3 ½ inch floppy disk. http://www.computerhistory.org/timeline/?year=1994
