    In 1700 Peter the Great alied with Denmark, Poland, and Saxony to atttack Sweenden. Russia didn't want the customs or tolls on the goods they export through Sweenden's port. In 1703 they established russia's first port on the Baltic Sea.

    The Decembrist Revolt
    A group of mobles and military officals staged a revolt agaist Czar Nicholas the I, because they didn't like his conseritive views. They also thought he didn't deserve the throne, since his older brother was the heir. However, his brother chose to marry a Polish girl with no royal blood, he chose to give up the throne.

    Czar Alexander II Emancipates the Serfs
    The serfs were given land and communities were given a mir of land. However, serfs found it hard to leave the land because they couldn't afford to. The nobles had better land and the serfs weren't able to move and now they had a dept to pay.
  • The Assassination of Alexander II

    The Assassination of Alexander II
    Alexander II was killed by a bomb set off by a revolt group known as "People's Will". "People's Will had already been killing officals and had made attempts on the Czar's life before suceeding on March 13, 1881.

    The Russo-Japanese War
    Japan lanches a surprise naval attack against Russia starting the Russo-Japanese War. Despite Russia having a much bigger population, Japan was more Westerenized in wepons and when ever Russia would ship wepons or people to help it took almost a month there at the least.

  • Bloodly Sunday

    Bloodly Sunday
    A peaceful group of workers were marching to the Winter Palce to make their demands. However the Czarist's troops shot at them and 500 people were killed.

    The Revolution of 1905
    The revolution begins when Czarist's troops open fire on a peaceful group of workers marching to the Winter Palce. About 500 people were killed and the event became known as "Bloody Sunday". Then they lose the Russo-Japanese War in October of 1905.

  • Czar Nicholas II abdicates the Russian throne

    Czar Nicholas II abdicates the Russian throne
    After leading Russia into another costly war and the food was getting scarce the people began to question the Czar's desions. So, when the army garrison at Petrograd joined striking workers in demanding socialists reforms, this forced the Czar to abdicate the throne.

    Workers went on strike on March 17, 1917, demanding bread and refusing to leave to the streets.
