General Winfield Scott lands at Veracruz and begins a 12 day siege and bombards the city to eventually occupy it and win the battle.

General Scott moved in seemingly without opposition until a battle at Punon, and he occupied the palace on 25 July 1847. The city finally surrendered on 14 September 1847.
