This was the first slave ship to sail from Providence, Rhode Island. It was fairly successful financially and was the family's first investment in the slave trade.

Captain Hopkins and the Sally arrive on the coast of present-day New Guinea. They make visits to African Leaders in an attempt to develop relationships that would permit for the buying of slaves.

Captain Hopkins buys the last of the 196 slaves he has purchased.
Many have died or have been sold by Hopkins as well but the death toll is nothing like that of the journey itself. -
On this day an insurrection occcurs aboard the Sally, but is quickly suppressed with gunfire, killing 8 slaves and wounding many more.
