Encoder Replacement

  • Planning and Analysis Phase 1

    Planning and Analysis Phase 1
The decision is made to investigate an encoder change with our contract ending in one year with our current vendor. We will need to identify the IS that meets our healthcare facility's needs and business objectives. This system will need to ensure that the new system will improve the quality of care for patients. This new IS will need to fit in my facilities budget as well.
  • Period: to

Planning, organizing, defining scope, system analysis

In this step Planning is the most critical step in the system selection. I need to set up my budget, conduct my feasibility study, set my company's goals and objectives, identify who my project manager will be and the team that will be working with them. We will set up measurable, attainable, relevant and timely goals. I will assign my project team using individuals from various departments. We will at this time implement change management.
  • Period: to

Planning, organizing, defining scope, system analysis

I will now conduct a feasibility study to determine if the proposed IS is appropriate and meets the objectives of the healthcare facility. I will examine the cost, benefits, expected problems and determine if the vendor I have chosen is the appropriate fit. I will make sure it has both tangible and intangible benefits. I will set the budget and ensure that it contains the cost of the software, upgrading, hardware, training, maintenance, consultant and travel expenses.
  • Period: to

Planning, organizing, defining scope, system analysis

Setting Goals and objectives for the IS will identify what the healthcare facility wants to accomplish with the implementation of the system we have chosen and how they will be achieved. These goals need to be realistic and attainable. I need Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-based goals. I will need to identify my project manager and team at this time. We will introduce the idea of a new IS and the changes that will occur.
  • Period: to

Planning, organizing, defining scope, system analysis

I will now define the scope of the project. We will identify the purpose of the IS, How the system links to the HC facility's business strategy, and the goals for the scope. We will prevent scope creep by identifying the projects definition. Conduct a project plan: feasibility study, resources, design, hardware and software procurement, transition, implementation, support and evaluation. We will use the tools to control the project: Gantt chart, PERT chart, Status reports.
  • Period: to

Planning, organizing, defining scope, system analysis

We will collect, organize, and evaluate data on the healthcare facility I work for by doing a system analysis. What do the employees like about the current system? What problems do they have with it? what changes do you feel will impact this system? what information do we need to keep from the system? What new functions would you find most beneficial? We would now conduct questionnaires, interviews, observations, flowcharts and any other data we felt necessary.
  • Design Phase2

    Design Phase2
We will define a solution system based on the requirements of the healthcare facility and user needs. We will need to determine if the new design reflect IS objectives, output specifications, input specifications, database design and expected cost. The design should specify what data are collected, from where the data will originate and in what format the data should be stored as well as the size of the database and amount of activity expected. We select the system we will purchase.
  • Implementation Phase 3

    Implementation Phase 3
In this phase we will construct, test, train users and install the new system. We will implement the design into source code by coding it, then we will set up a training environment for everyone to learn the new system and test it for errors. We will take the test report and repair any errors. The new system will then be installed into its environment for use.
  • Maintenance and Evaluation Phase 4

    Maintenance and Evaluation Phase 4
Now that the system is installed, we must keep the system healthy and improve on any needs of the employees. They will need to know the numbers to phone support or the on-site support that is here for a period of time after the system install. They will implement the changes that the software needs to undergo over a period of time. They will be here to resolve and fix errors as they arise. seeing as this is a larger system we will need to make sure we have support as long as we have the IS.
