    Pascals Calculator
Blaise Pascal invented the first mechanical Calculator in 1642. It was only capable of doing addition and subtraction but is still considered one of the first pre-computers. Only three decades later the first device that could calculate multiplication and division was invented. In honor of him there was a programming language developed in the 1970's named Pascal. This is still used today.
  • The birth Ada Lovelace

    The birth Ada Lovelace
Ada Lovelace had generally been recognized as the worlds first computer programmer. What she did was the she wrote an algorithm that could be run on a computer, however at that point in time no computer excited so the algorithm was only written down on paper. Lovelace was very visionary as she understood that essentially anything could be processed by computers and that computers could compose music, produce graphic and be useful for science. There is a programming language named after her.
  • The end of world war 2 - part 1

The end of world war 2 - part 1
It is believed by many experts that if it weren't for the so called "Turing Machine" invented by Alan Turing and a team of scientist the war would've brewed on for another two years and millions of more people would've lost their lives.
The machine had the unique ability to crack code messages based on just one or two words. The Germans used a code machine named "Enigma" to send their messages and plot their next attack, so it was vital for the alliance to crack the code. To be continued...
  • The end of world war 2 - part 2

The mathematicians who were working day and night to crack the code realised that the two words "Heil Hitler" would be present at the end of every message, meaning that those letters could be used to crack the code that was reset every day. After the war the mathematicians involved were forbidden to talk about what they had done during the war. It wasn't until the 1970s that the story unfolded. Alan Turing died of suicide following the court mandated hormonal therapy he was under.

    Apple is founded
Apple was founded by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne on April Fools day 1976 no one thought it would eventually become the most valued company in the world. Apple have accelerated a few important steps in computer history. The Apple II became one of the first really big home computers with Mackintosh the visual interface. The iPod revolutionized the music industry. The iPhone became a breakthrough for smart phones and the Apple watch became a major wearable device.
  • The release of IBM PC

    The release of IBM PC
Up until this point computers were mainly used in offices and were used by several people. But with personal computers (PC's) IBM had a vision that people could have individual computers. The operating system was developed by a then small company called Microsoft and was later evolved to what today is called windows.
  • The release of Commodore 64

    The release of Commodore 64
With a booming market for home computers Commodore took the lead with the Commodore 64. A colour screened home computer with what was then amazing sound. With 17 million sold units the Commodore 64 is the most sold computer model throughout time. The computer was primarily popular amongst teenagers playing computer games.
  • The 1996 chess match

    The 1996 chess match
For many years it was thought that computers, although advanced, could not beat the human mind on more complex things like chess. However a team at IBM developed a complex computer called Deep Blue and in it's first game against world champion Garry Kasparov it won. Even though the world champion won 4 out of the 5 following matches the spell was broken. Deep Blue have shown that computers could do things few thought was possible. This was one of the first steps towards artificial intelligence.
  • Facebook is founded

    Facebook is founded
Facebook was the first social media platform that still remains relevant today. It laid the foundation for the social media revolution. It was founded by Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin and Sean Parker. The story behind the foundation as well as the story behind how Saverin was tricked out of the company and sued Zuckerberg was made into a movie called "The social network." Without Facebook we might not have had other social media platforms today such as Instagram, which they now own.
