1st birthday/ moveing to america
Scottland is a great palce to grow patatoes, but we have had a infestation of bugs ruin our crop which we rely on, so we are moving to america to gain money, food and to give my son a better future.Today is scotts first birthday. Although we are excited for him we have no time to celebrate, since we are busy packing for the long boat ride to america. I hope we have a safe ride to the golden mountain and they let us into the country. -
welcome to america
Today we arrived in america. The ride here was horendous, when we left we started with hundreds of people, when we got here we ended up with under 200. Lots of people died from the disease "millaria". The boat ride felt like it was years, i thought it would never end. When i saw the statue of liberty i was extatic to finaly be in america. i was astonished of the size of the statue of liberty. We had to wait hours till we could get our physical and papers. Luckily we passed our physicals and got -

in. I was happy to get into america, i had heard stories of people that came back to scottland after going to america becuase they didnt have enough money or didnt pass their physical. I was depressed to find out that my brother didnt pass the physical and had to return home. I will always remember this day -
Finding work
Almost imediatley someone came up to and offered me a job. I got offered a job working as a roughneck, bulding skyscrapers for 1.50 a hour The man offered me a job and a house if i vote for him. -
life in america
Life in america is great, with a few exceptions. Although i have a great job, alot of people got fired and before i came to work and hate me for takaing theyre job. I have had numerous threats form them on my family. -

Toady i turn 1o. Life is awesome. I go to school for 3 hours and then go to help my mom around our small house, Cleaning, and keeping after our few chickens. -
Son gets job
Today i start my job as a rough neck. My dad told me about how interesting his job is, so i thought i may try it out. I make 1.50 a day which is alot for me. My first job is on Ellis Island rebuilding one of the towers that burned down. -

Today i am very sad. My son scott has died. He was working on a tower in ellis island working as a rough neck when he fell off the tower. -
