Then she returned her mother told her if she was ever that close to the north then she should escape from being a slave because it was free in the north. -

In the spring of 1861, the north and south had a conflict about slavery. The conflict caused a civil war. The North wanted to end slavery but, the south wanted to keep slavery. Two years later Lincoln abolished slavery. -
The Battle Of Plymouth
The battle of plymouth started on April 17, 1864. The battle took place in Washington county, North Carolina. The Confederate soldiers attacked plymouth for 3 days causing the Union to surrender. -
Black Code
In the year 1865 people Citizens made up laws called Black Code. The Black Code laws restricted African Americans’ freedom. These were made so African Americans can still work with low pay. -
Civil War laws
Civil war laws were unfair to slaves. These laws let slave owners bet up slaves. The Civil war laws were made in 1861 and ended in the year 1865. -
