The 24th Dynasty of Egypt should not be called a dynasty in its own right. It was merely an uprising by the Egyptian Tefnakht. This two year rebellion was quickly quenched by the pharaoh of the 21st and 25th Dynasties, Menkheperre Piankhi. This ‘dynasty’ lasted from 620 to 618 B.C.

In 564 B.C., Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon (more commonly known as Nebuchadnezzar) sacked Egypt, leading to a period of exile and ruin in Egypt for 40 years, until Cambyses helped restore Egypt in 525 B.C.

After Alexander the Great died, his kingdom, including Egypt, was split between four of his generals. One of these four kingdoms was the Ptolemaic Kingdom, or Egypt. It was ruled by many pharaohs, all under the name Ptolemy. It lasted until Rome conquered Egypt in 30 B.C. The Ptolemies ruled Egypt from 332 to 30 B.C.
