US/ Great Britain(devolution)
Economic event. US fought for their independence from Britains rule.The declaration of Independence was signed on the 4th of July in Philadelphia, PA. -
Central Powers (Supranationalism)
The countries involved were the Ottoman empire, Germany, and Austria-Hungary. It was a political/military alliance. The Ottoman Empire wanted to regain lost terrritories, and they were fighting against France, Russia, and Great Britain. (WWI) -
Czechoslovakia (devolution)
This type of devolution was both political and economic. Czechoslovakia broke into the Czech Republic and Slovakia. They decided to brake apart because if they both joined the EU (Europian Union) seperately, they would gain more money and economical support. -
Soviet Union (devolution)
An event due to culture. The countries created were Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekastan, Turmenistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhistan, and Kyrgystan. There ethnic differences, and communism, split tthem apart into the countries listed above during 1991. -
United Nations (supranationalism)
The countries involved were the United States, Soviet Union, Britain, China, France, plus 48 others. This political alliance wanted to avoid and protect against aggression betweeen each other. (post- WWII) -
Germany (devolution)
{Political event post WWII} Europe was split down the middle into a communist east and a democratic west by the iron curtain, which went through Germany. -
PLO (supranationalism)
(Palistine Liberation Organization)The regions associated with this political alliance were Israel, the west bank, and the gaza strip. They sought to establish an independent state for Palestinians. -
ICO (supranationalism)
(Islamic Confrence Organization)The countries involved were Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Iraq, parts of Africa, and many more. They were a cultural alliance that wanted to promote Islamic solidarity by using social, economic, cultural activities. They also wanted to eliminate segrigation and discrimination. -
NAFTA (supranationalism)
(North America Free Trade Association)The countries involved with this economical alliance were the United States, Mexico, and Canada. They elimitated most tariffs and trade barriers between each other, creating a free trade bloc. -
Scotland/UK (devolution)
Economic based event. Scotland was granted autonomy from the UK, who doesn't want to let Scotland have full independence because they control the North Sea. The N. Sea contains much of the oil in the area. -
Yugoslavia
Culture based event. When former leader Josip Tito died, Yugoslavia broke apart into Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia due to ethnic and religous differences
