    Ivan I got his name Kalita from collecting tribute from the Tatars throught his domain. He also purchased territory to expand his domain.

    Even though Ivan the great was an absolute ruler he listened to his people and met there needs. He also recovered a lot of land that had been taken over and he brought much of Northern Russia under his rule.

    From the beginning Ivan IVwas looked at in shame. At his birth the priests in the room said he was going to be the worst ruler in Russian history. He killed his own son with his staff striking him with it on his head killing him instantly. He left his kingdom because the people thought his ways were to inhumane and cruel. He knew the country would fall without a leader so he left knowing his people would ask him to come back. He came back with one condition that he could toture how he pleased.

    Peter was a very adventrous boy who liked to create wars with leather balls and real cannons. Peter was known for modernizing Russia. He was intrigued with Europe and he wanted to make Russia sophisticated like them too. Russia did not expirence the Rennissance. Peter would rip off the beards of monks with his bear hands because he thought they made his country look old. He was a great conquering and fought with the men on the battle field. He fought against Napoleon and won.

    Catherine was brought from Germany when she was a teenager to have a baby with a silly man named Peter III so there could be an heir to the throne. He was very childish and showed now interest in Catherine. Catherine on the other hand was very smart and learned many different languages. Her time in the palace tought her many things and she learned how everything worked. She was interested in writing, literature, and poetry. She later had peter killed and took the throne for herself.

    Alexander was a great conqueror and battle stragtegist. But he did die at a young age only 33 years old and his succesor was Nicholas I.

    Nicholas was trained from a young age as an army officer. After he succeeded his brother he suppressed the Decembrist revolt. He reinforced his policies and created agencies as the Third Section. He was then succeeded by Alexander II.

    Nicholas II was the last czar of Russia. He was desposed during the Russian Revolution and was executed by the Bolsheviks.

    Prince Vladimir brought religion to Russia to bring his people together in a time of need. He decided to adopt christianty as the main religion for Russia because he believed the cathedral in Constantinople was where god was because of its size and beauty.
