    This statement not only gave Cuba the support of the Soviet Union, but it also pulled Cuba into the Cold War. With Cuba in the War it made America more alarmed because this meant that we had a much closer enemy that could attack Washington before we even know it.

    The Bay of Pigs was a CIA lead expedition to try and overthrow the cuban government. It was launched in April 1961 just a few months after Kennedy became president. The invasion had been planned prior to Kennedy's inoguration by Eisenhower. This plan alttmatly failed.

    In late September U.S. planes discovered surface to air missiles being built by the Soviet Union in Cuba, this was proven by photographs taken on the 15th. It was believed that these missiles could posibaly be nuclear weapons being used by the Soviet Union to get a better shot at America.

    Kennedy scheduled an engagement to meet with Soviet Foreign Minister Andrie Gromyko. Gromyko assures Kennedy that Soviet is there for defence of Cuba and that they would not be involved otherwise. Gromyko denied any danger to America but was proven wrong when Kennedy showed him the images taken of the missiles.

    Soviet ships en route to Cuba with questionable cargo either slow down or reverse their course except for one. This added a level of readyness and observation one the part of America to want to know what was on that ship as it could have been a major threat to the safety of the western world.

    Kennedy writes Khrushchev that if he removes missles from Cuba then America will not invade Cuba. Kennedy had agreed to the “quarantine measures” used by America, and in exchange Khrushchev would remove the potental threat that Cuba would have.

    Khrushchev writes to Kennedy that he will remove the Soviet missiles from Cuba if the U.S. will remove missiles from Turkey and other ajoined countries. This letter also states that America and the Soviet Union will stay out of foregn affairs in Cuba and Turkey. Kennedy agrees to these terms to end the Cuban Missle Crisis.
