    Birth and early life
    Fidel Castro was born the second son of a wealthy land owner. His parents names were Angel Maria Castro and Lina Ruz Gonzalez (cox 30). He learned to read at age 5(31). Succeed in everything including sports, studies, and fights. He would not give up, always fighting(36). He excelled at subjects that he was interested, why failing the ones he disliked (36).

    The first federal bank in Canada was established in 1935. Canada never needed a bank before this for a few reasons, most people were settled widely apart never needing a federal banking system. This was also the time when they had there first printed notes.

    The first ever functional atomic bomb was tested on July 16th, 1945 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. This was the very same used later that year to defeat the Japanese in World War 2. Another result of this was the powerful new weapons that the United States now possessed. Cost $2 billion in research.

    While Batista was dictator of of Cuba, Fidel had helped hold rebellions against him(197). He planned revolutions after finishing college(201). July 26th, 1953, He planned an attack on military barracks which failed, he was tried and then sentenced to 15 years in prison, He was released a year later.(200-201). He was exiled to Mexico where he continued to plan his revolution.(201)

    He was able to carry out his attack with 81 others attacking federal officers as he made his way to Batista forcing the dictator to leave as he had lost all support within the country and out. Fidel Castro was then established the Prime Minister of Cuba. He would hold one of the longest non royal political leaders in history for over 50 years.

    Castro allowed Nikita Khrushchev to deploy missiles in Cuba. This was a major threat the the U.S. since it decreased the time for missiles to reach the U.S. The U.S. discovered these her with a soy plane President John F. Kennedy made a deal. The U.S. and Russia were in the Cold War, so this was a threat. John F. Kennedy made a deal with The soviet Union to pull there missiles from Cuba ending it once and for all.

    Castro decided to start a communist party in Cuba making himself First Secretary, giving him full control over the Cuban gov. He led this communist party until the early 90's when he changed his title from prime minister to president.

    President John F. Kennedy wanted man to walk on the moon, and in less than 10 years, that was accomplished. Through hard work and science, the United States was able to put the first men on the moon during the Apollo 11 mission. Several experiment were also conducted while on the surface while they walked around for 3 hours, and within 4 days, all men made it back to earth safely.

    The first of the very popular Macintosh computer came out in 1984, revolutionizing the way technology was at the time. The basis for many computers to come. This was the first mass market produced computer available to the public. It was generally aimed at students and offices, but the general public enjoyed them as well. This device changed the way that we look at computers today.

    The fall of the Soviet Union was bad for the economy of Cuba. Cuba using the USSR as support for military as well as economical reasons, the fall means that they are now more vulnerable. The lack of fossil fuels imported from USSR had meant that they had weakened severely, for they were entirely dependent on petroleum.
  • Refugees

    1000's of refugees fleeing Cuba, the biggest disturbance since the Cuban Revolution. This is due to Castro's political policies within the country. Although Castro let them leave with this quote, "whoever wanted to leave, could go", meaning that Castro would not move his military forces to stop them. Nearly 35,000 Cubans fled the country to the U.S.
  • Stepping Down

    Fidel Castro stepped down in 2008 as the President of Cuba. This was the end of one of the longest reigns non-royal leader of a country. He stepped down due to a serious illness problem that will never fully recover, but he said this to the people “I am not saying goodbye to you. I only wish to fight as a soldier of ideas.” He is know rarely seen in public.
  • Resignation

    Castro stepped down as leader of the communist party of Cuba in 2011 giving the position to his brother, ending his leadership. Raul said "the party leadership was in need of renewal and should subject itself to severe self-criticism". Fidel votes for a new Central Committee of the Party.
