President kennidy announced on the television that the Soviet Union was placing nuclear missiles in cuba, and then said he would place a blockade on cuba until the missiles were removed. and to stay clam because this was going to start a war. -
Moscow's defence
Khrushchev’s reaction to this was anger, him being from moscow. he said that Cuba only had them for "exclusively for defensive purposes, in order to secure the Cuban republic from an aggressor’s attack" then he said that if the US acted against them, there would be an all out nuclear war.
