    Soviet premier Nikita Krushchev came up with the idea of placing intermediate-range U.S. missiles in Cuba. This would lead to an attack with the U.S. against the Soviet Union.

    This was the delayed mission from October 7th. The U.S. Air Force U-2 plane had discovered missile sites while flying over Western Cuba. There were photographs taken to show the evidence.
