Fidel Castro’s first revolution that was attempted in the summer of 1953 failed, it then put him in jail.

He returned to Cuba in December of 1956 for an invasion that he hoped would be a victory. The invasion failed, but the survivors that were there hid in the mountains of Cuba and launched a publicity campaign.

The U.S. CIA backed up about 1400 cuban refugees and entered the swampy southern coast of Cuba. This invasion failed when 20,000 cuban men attacked and 1100 men were taken hostage by the Cuban army. The USA had to get them released for a ransom of $53 in medicin and food.

President Kennedy issues a formal demand to a Soviet Premiere Nikita Khrushchev so that the missiles be removed from Cuba! Kennedy gives a televised speech announcing that the U.S. had evidence of offensive missiles in Cuba. Kennedy also announced that he was imposing a blockade “on all offensive military equipment.”

Kennedy and Khrushchev came to an agreement for the Soviet Union to return the cuban missles back home and to cease sending them to Cuba. In return Kennedy agreed to remove the nuclear armed missles from Turkey so they couldn't be used against the Soviet Union.
