    Armenian Genocide 24 Apr 1915

The Armenian Genocide was the systematic killing of the Armenian population of the Ottoman Empire during WWI. The persecutions were carried out by the Ottoman government until 1923 when they were replaced by the Republic of Turkey. Approximately 1.5 million were killed. One of the major methods of genocide used was forced marches where Armenians were forced to march for hundreds of miles whilst deprived from food and water. The victims were also raped, placed into labor battalions, and killed.
