    The Six Day War began when the Gulf of Suez closed. Israel decide to strike against Egypt, Syria and Jordan. It destroyed many of their airplanes on ground. Israel moved quickly to defeat Arab forces. At this time Israel owned more land.

    Egypt wanted to win their territory back. They surprised attack Israel. Israel decide to join forces with the U.S troops. This helped push back Egyptian and Syrian troops. At the time of this war the prices of oil rose around the world, especially for the U.S.

    In 1970 the states around finally agreed with Israel becoming a new state. Egypt wanted peace with Israel. Jimmy Carter, then president of the U.S invited them to the Camp David Resort in Maryland. There, both Egypt and Israel came to agreements and made peace.
