    In 1967, Egypt made actions of closing off the Gulf of Aqaba. This was a threat to Israel because the Gulf of Aqaba was their only route to the Red Sea. Israel noticed that Egypt was making an effort to disrupt Israel, so Israel decided to attack.
  • Six-Day War

    Six-Day War
    The Six-Day War went on from June 5- June 10th. Israel took control of the Golan Heights, Sinai Peninsula, Gaza Strip, West Bank, as well as Gaza with a mass Palestinian population.
  • Yom Kippur War

    Yom Kippur War
    Egypt and Syria were determined to gain their territory back. Therefore, they launched a surprise attack on Israel. Israel was not completely prepared for this attack; the military needed help from the United States. With the help of the U.S., Israel forces stood their grounds and pushed back the Syrian and Egyptian armies. This war ended on October 25 when both sides agreed to end their battles.

    Egypt Wants Peace With Israel
    The president of Egypt, Anwar Sadat, made a declaration that Egypt wants peace with Israel. The U.S. president welcomed Sadat and prime minister to the presidential retreat in Maryland, Camp David. They reached an agreement called the Camp David Accords. Unfriendliness between Egypt and Israel was put to an end for 30 years.

    Intifada
    The intifada was a Palestinian rebellion against the state of Israel on the Western Bank and Gaza. During the intifada, young Palestinians fought against Israeli troops in extensive street brutality. It ended in the beginning of the 1990s when the violence was put to an end by powerful people.
