The Z1 is introduced
In 1940 the Z1, the first programable calculating machine to use the binary system is introduced. The reason why this is such a milestone is because it is the first programable machine, paving the way for other programable calcultaing machine. -
ERA 1101 is built
The ERA 1101 is built by the Research Associates of Minneapolis. It is the first commercially produced computer, selling their first to the U.S. Navy. It could hold 1 million bits and drums held up to 4000 words that could be retrived. It is immportant because it is the first commercial computer that could be sold to large commpanies. -
RTL Invented
Fairchild Camera and Instrument Corp. invented the resistor-transistor logic product. It is a set/reset flip-flop and is the first integrated circuit available. It lead the way for other integrated circuits to be produced smaller and be put in other computers. -
The Alto is Designed
Xerox Palo Alto Reserach Center designes the Alto,the first work station with a built-in mouse. The Alto could store several files in windows. It offered menus, icons, and could link to local networks in the area. This computer is a huge milestone in the develpment in personal computers. Engineers could improve what the Alto had and later used its features to develope the personal computer and work stations. -
The Osborne I is completed
Adam Osborne completes the first portable computer, the Osborne I. It weighed 24 pounds and cost $1,795. It included software that was worth $1,500. It featured a 5-inch screen, 64 kilobytes of memory, a modem, and two 5 1/4-inch floppy disk drives. The Osborne I paved the way for the portable computers that we use today.People could improve on this computer to make it better and faster. -
Apple launces the Macintaosh
The first successful computer with a graphgic user interface and is mouse-driven is put on the market. the Macintosh came with applications like MacPaint, and MacWrite. The Macintosh was affordable and people wanted to by it. Apple paved the way for other personal computer companies. The computers are easy to use and are nice looking. These features are very appealing to customers. -
Terminator 2 comes out
Terminator 2 comes out with ground breaking special effects done by Industrial Light & Magic. The movie was the most expensive movie ever made at the time costing $100 million. It cost this much because of the expensive computer-generated special effects. This movie led the way for other movies to use computers to add special effects. -
Toy Story the movie is released
Toy Story is the first full length feature film to be completely computer generated. Many companies followed Pixar with animated movies. Many of the movies that we watch today are computer generated and Pixar paved the way for those companies. -

The Iphone was a huge succuess and a big inovation. It is a phone that brought everything from your computer to your cell phone. It started off the smartphone revolution that makes our life easier with all of our media in one device. -
Ipad released
The ipad was the first touch screen portable computer. It brought all of out media and processing from our computer into a tablet. It was a huge success. People like its sleek design and touch screen. It is more portable than a laptop and can do even more.
