Computer Evolution

  • The first digital computer was made

The first digital computer was made
The first electronic digital computers were developed between 1940 and 1945 in the United Kingdom and United States. I choose this because if this never happened who knows where we would be today. The computer has come a long ways since its invention and our society basically depends on it.
  • First form of video game invented

First form of video game invented
The earliest known interactive electronic game was by Thomas T. Goldsmith Jr. and Estle Ray Mann on a cathode ray tube. The game was a missile simulator inspired by radar displays from World War II. This invention is important because it got the whole idea of video games started, which would be hard to live without now. This invention was important to me because without it who knows what our society would do for great entertainment in the comfort of your chosen environment.
  • The keyboard was invented

    The keyboard was invented
In 1948 the keyboard was invented from its close relative the typewriter. This invention made it so much easier to type things. Not only was it helpful but it was also resourceful because now the typer was able to see what they typing before printing it. The emerging electric typewriter further improved the technological marriage between the typewriter and the computer. Without the keyboard many things would take forever to do and perform.
  • The computer mouse was invented

    The computer mouse was invented
Independently, Douglas Engelbart at the Stanford Research Institute invented the first mouse prototype in 1963. It was named the mouse because the early models had a cord attached to the rear part of the device looking like a tail and generally resembling the common mouse. This invention is important because how else would we manuver around the computer screen. It is important to me because I use one on a daily basis.
  • The invention of the GPS

    The invention of the GPS
The GPS project was developed in 1973 to overcome the limitations of previous navigation systems integrating ideas from several predecessors, including a number of classified engineering design studies from the 1960s. GPS was created and realized by the U.S. Department of Defense and was originally run with 24 satellites. It became fully operational in 1994. Roger L. Easton is generally credited as its inventor. Imagine life without it. It's important to me because I have relied on it a lot.
  • The first portable computer was invented

The first portable computer was invented
In 1973 the IBM Palo Alto Scientific Center developed a portable computer prototype called SCAMP (Special Computer APL Machine Portable) based on the IBM PALM processor with a Philips compact cassette drive, small CRT and full function keyboard. Imagine a what our world would be like without laptops? Well this was there start. I could not picture our society functioning without them we rely on them so much now.
  • The invention of the internet

    The invention of the internet
The Internet was commercialized in 1995 when NSFNET was decommissioned, removing the last restrictions on the use of the Internet to carry commercial traffic. The invention of the internet made it super convienent to do things. Without the internet virtually nothing would be possible to do. It's invention is important to me because I wouldn't be able to do anything without it.
  • The first Ipod invented

    The first Ipod invented
The iPod is a line of portable media players designed and marketed by Apple Inc. The first line was released on November 10, 2001. The Ipod is the best way to listen to portable music in my perspective. Thats why I believe that it's an important invention. It has revolutionized the portable music player. I really enjoy it and so does most of the world who likes music.
  • The invention of the Notebook laptop

The invention of the Notebook laptop
At their inception in late 2007 as smaller notebooks optimized for low weight and low cost netbooks omitted certain features featured smaller screens and keyboards, and offered reduced computing power when compared to a full-sized laptop. This invention made it even easier to have access to a computer on the go. Even more convienet than the laptop. It's important to me because without it a lot of things would be more difficult.
  • Abacus: The abacus, the first known calculator, was invented in Babylonia

Abacus: The abacus, the first known calculator, was invented in Babylonia
The Abacus was first invented in 2400 BC it is a calculator, but is also referred to as a counting frame. The Structure often consisted of bamboo frame and beads along wires. I choose this because it has meaning to me because I do math every single day of my life practically and it just makes things so much easier. This is a big event in inventions because without it some math would seem impossible and require and unrealistic amount of time to solve. This invention has helped our society.
