The U.S. stopped aid and Cuban sugar imports. Cuba relied on the sugar imports. Castro turned Cuba into communist country. In 1961, the U.S. tried to invade Cuba, but it failed. Castro asked the Soviet Union for aid and weapons to go against the U.S. The U.S. became under threat. U.S. created a naval blockade for stopping the supplies from the Soviet Union. They made preparations to invade. The U.S. did not want war, so they lifted the blockade and did not invade.
