    This date marks the begining of my life and foreshadows my future. The importance behind this event, is the underlying fact that without it, I would not be the person I am today. This "historical" event in my life, will forever be the most crucial occasion that myself and thoes who I affect around me will encounter.

    My First Words (Phrase)
    Although personally I do not remember the first words that I had spoken, my mother and father tell me that my first phrase was along the lines of "who let the dogs out". Who let the dogs out, the song, was released in 2000 and if I do say so myself, might be the worst written anthem I have ever herad. I do believe that this phrase provides insight o my character. It shows that I am a whimsical and enthusiastic person inside who tends to have a bad taste in music.

    George W. Bush defeated Democratic Vice President Al Gore in the closest election in history. The 2000 Presidential Election was the most recent election where the popular vote winner was not elected. Lawsuits about the issue escalated to the U.S. Supreme Court where the final, 5-4 decision was made, giving the state of Florida's Electoral votes to George declaring him President.     The birth of my younger sister (Isabella McCormick)
    My sister being born would have to have been the most eventful occasion I have ecountered. Her birth has driven me to be the best older brother I can be. I try to achieve high feats so that she can look up to me and be inspired by my accomplishments and achievements. Her existence pushes me to be the best I can be and reminds me that any goal or aspiration can be completed.

    The September 11 attacks were a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda on the United States. The attacks consisted of suicide attacks used to target symbolic U.S. landmarks.The ultimate impacts of the event were: sky marshals being introduced on US airlines in an attempt to prevent hijackings, more than a decade of war with the middle eastern countries, and on a positive note an increase in american nationalism.     The No Child Left Behind Act is signed into law by U.S. President George W. Bush
    The No Child Left Behind Act authorizes several federal education programs that are administered by the states. Under the law, states are required to test students in reading and math in grades 3–8 and once in high school. Its result, to make a more common nation in academic abilities for students and future scholars. Its outcome,which was supposedly a no more than 12 year resolution to test scores, that is sill in affect today 12 years later, where test scores have not improved. (www.npr.org)

    My First Day of First Grade
    The first days of school are surreal. Getting to know fellow classmates and teachers are the underlying realities of schhol. Starting first grade, I was driven to take education to the next level. I am always one willing to experiment and do the un-testable. First grade inspired me to do something with life. To do my best in school, and to never give up and to always keep trying. I believe this reveals the sense of priority I put towards school outside and in a classroom setting.

    Democrats took control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate for the first time in a 12 years in the 2006 midterm elections, and President Bush and top Democrats quickly promised to get along despite a rancorous campaign. The Democratic Party won a majority of the state governorships and the U.S. House and Senate seats each for the first time since 1994. The impact alowed for democratic based congress views and allowed for the election of first time canidates into politics.

    The first female Speaker of the United States House of Representatives is elected
    Nancy Pelosi becomes the first female Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. The idea that women can enter into Congress ignited a new fire in the United States. Its outcome displayed the United States sense of equality and diversity amoung political decisions. Pelosi's determination in the House of Representatives has the country willing to get involved due to the progressive force she leads. (www.biography.com)

    My First Mile Swim
    Swimming has always been an activity that I enjoy participating in. Whether for leisure purposes or for a competitive motive, swimming is my favorite sport. I take into account my first mile swim. This event is important to me, because it influenced a possiblity keep up with my practice and hopefully do well in district and state meets. This was the first event that I have had a firm adheasion to and still practice to this day. Swimming represents a dream and passion that I hope to succeed in.

    President of the United States Barack Obama declared in a media statement that Osama bin Laden, the founder and leader of the militant group Al-Qaeda, was killed during an American military acctack. The reaction to the news had the U.S. citizens held in a morale booster. Although it did not allow for the Uited States to finish war in Pakistan, it granted a sense of completion to George W. Bush's declaration that the U.S. would bring bin Laden to justice, dead or alive. (www.whitehouse.gov)

    The "Don't ask, don't tell" policy is abolished
    The United States military officially ends its policy of Don't ask, don't tell allowing gay and lesbian associiates to publicly declare their sexual orientation. The end of DADT did not have a single negative impact. Qualified military men and women are now serving openly, the repeal transformed their lives for the better. As a result to this more men and women are willing and open to sacrificing themselves toward the United States, no matter their sexual conformity. (www.cnn.com)

    Meeting my Best Friend (Emma Turner)
    I finally found someone that relates to me and who I can engage in conversation with. Emma Turner and I meet in math class and now have hung out every weekend since October of 7th grade. I do not know where I would be without her and her sarcasm. She affected my life by giving me insight on the world around us and provided me with a whole new outlook on school. Together we have an abundance of fun, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

    The Supreme Court rules that naturally-occurring human genes may not be patented, with significant implications for future medical research. The court ruling removed a major barrier between patient care and medical innovation. Its impact left some scientists at a stand-still and in confusion as to why tests may no longer be operated, when these tests are only coducted to help future medical research on the human body.   • My First Occupation

    My First Occupation
    The first job I have ever had, took place during the summer before my freshmen year. I was assigned the task of being involved in a local landscaping buisness. The importance of the event is as follows; it allowed me to make a living for myself, and finally permitted me to make my some of my own trivial financial decisions. My first paycheck set out my future in front of me, and hopefully a bountiful of paychecks to come.

    The death of our family friends daughter, Sara Sawick, was one that I will remember. It revealed to me that when life is tampered with, it can be taken right from beneath you. To me her death symbolizes the death of my sister. It forces me and drives me to be thankful for the family I have and the loving parents that tend to my ever need.

    Same-Sex Marriage is legalized
    In a 5-4 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court rules that the Constitution guarantees a right to same-sex marriage in the United States. This legalization only promotes benefits in the United States. First and foremost, it promotes equality and non-discrimination in our society that we claim has already existed. It will also strengthens our national identity in the matters of social justice.     The Confederate Flag is formally removed from the South Carolina State House
    The South Carolina State House formally removed the Confederate battle flag from its grounds after weeks of protest and placed it in a museum. For some the flag exemplifies a sense of racsim towards the black commuity, while to others it is a representation of southern pride. I believe it shows that we as Americans are unwilling to accept our past, while my peers may believe it helps increase the nations impressions on equality. (www.huffingtonpost.com)

    Obtaining my Learners Permit.
    Obtaining my learners permit finally shows that I am ready to move forward in life and to expand my previously drawn horizons. In a few moths, I will be able to drive alone, a large responsibility, that shows how I am becoming more of the young adult I aspire to grow into. It not only impacts my life, but the people on the road as well. I am just kidding but it finally shows that I am no longer the immature boy that did not know how to tie his shoes. I am now getting ready for my future.

    Going to Key West
    The Florida Keys is the best spot on earth to relieve your emotions and keep what happend in the past, in the past. Visiting Key West released me from my previous tendencies to stress, and made me focus more on the time spent here on earth. Being of able body and fiance to visit such a magnificent place really made me realize how important relaxing is. It showed me how to be grateful towards nature and its plentiful amount of emenities.
