King Frederick II takes the throne of Prussia and invades Silesia.

Result of the War of the Austrian Succession, allowing Prussia to get out of the war, but reentered in 1744.

Lasted from 1740 - 1748. Prussia, Bavaria, Spain, and France fight Austria, Great Britain, the Netherlands, and Russia to gain control of Silesia. Prussia wanted Silisesia for its farming lands and it's iron deposits. Prussia and its allies won and Prussia gained control of Silesia.

A shift in allies. For the first time Great Britain allied it's self with Prussia. Since the other powers didn't want Prussia to become too powerful, France allied its self with Austria and Russia.

Lasted from 1756 - 1763. Began in America where it was known as the French and Indian war. Prussia was backed by Great Britain, while Austria was backed by France and Russia. About half way through the war, the leader of Russia died and the new king withdrewfrom his allience with Austria and joined up with Prussia. The war had no clear winner
