As an undergraduate student, I was encouraged to intern as many times as I possibly could to get more experience. My contacts out of Bethany College's Sports Information Department led me into print journalism with Bethany alum Bubba Kapral. Executive Sports Editor at the time, Kapral took me under his wing and taught me the tricks of the trade in print journalism. I began answering phones for sports results and typing a lot of agate and ended as a section editor for all specialty publications.

Today, I graduated from Bethany College (W.V.) with a B.A. in communication.

This is when i was promoted from a part-time employee to a full time staff writer. I was tossed back-and-forth among sports, news, and pagination.

With some turnover in the office, I was designated Special Assingments Editor. I was now responsible for laying out all specilaty sections or niche publications produced by The Times Leader.

Mr. Cook finished the Accelerated Teacher Preparation (ACT) porogram at Wheeling Jesuit University. Under the guidance of Program Director John Yenenic, Cook finished his teaching certificate in two years online.

This is the day I began as a full-time teacher at North Dorchester Middle School in Hurlock, MD.

I completed a three month program for Americans for a Competitive Enterprise System (ACES) through the Maryland State Department of Education. After the completion of the course, I received three MSDE credits.

With some tansfers in the county, I was moved to the eighth grade team to teach language arts.

I began pursuing my master's degree in educational leadership from Seidel School of Education and Professional Studies at Salisbury University.

I took a Geocaching for Beginners class through the Wicomico County Board of Education. The class focused on the different possibilities with GPS units in the classroom. After completing the course, I received one MSDE credit.

With more transfers, I move back to teach sixth grade language arts.

I took Web 2.0: Tools for the 21st Century Learner through Dorchester County Public Schools. The class focused on integrating web 2.0 tools into the classroom and their benefits. After completing the three month online course, I recceived three MSDE credits.

This summer I taught summer school teaching remedial language arts with struggling learners in grades 6-8, focusing on reading strategies to enhance comprehension and higher level thinking.

Mr. Cook was selected to be trained on Thinkport-Thinkfinity. Thinkport is a rich educational resource for teachers, students and families. There you will find online field trips, video clips, lesson plans, online learning, communication tools and so much more.

After a two-year probation period, Dorchester County Public Schools awarded me tenure.

Dr. Henry Wagner, superintendent of Dorchester County Public Schools, informed me I was selected to the Lower Eastern Shore School Leadership Institute. This program was formed to aid aspiring school leaders the tools to take on leadership positions in public schools.

I took MTTP Module III: Legal, Social and Ethical Issues through Dorchester County Public Schools. The online based course focused on creating positive digital citizens for students, staff and parents. After completing the course, I received one MSDE credit.

Mr. Cook was selected to speak to parents on the importance of the Maryland State Assessment (MSA) which is to be given the following week.

Today, I will have graduated from Seidel School of Education and Professional Studies at Salisbury University. My master's program was in educational leadership.

Today I begin a cohort program at University of Maryland Eastern Shore for my doctorate of Education.
