    Bobby Seale
    Bobby Seale is one of the co-founders of the Black Panthers. He served as the chairman of the Black Panthers and was the highest ranked official​ of the Black Panthers. In college, he joined the Afro-American Association (AAA), a group on the campus devoted to advocating Black separatism. He and Huey P. Newton, inspired by the teachings of Malcolm X, joined together to create the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense. They promoted their slogan of "freedom by any means necessary​"

    Black Panthers create Ten Point Program
    The Ten point program was created by the founders of the Black panther party, Bobby Seale and Huey P. Newton, in order to give the Black Panther Party a set of guidelines to follow. The Ten point program entailed two main sections, "What we want now", which described what the party wanted from racist leaders of the American society. And secondly, "What we believe" which described the philosophical views of the party.

    Cause of trial was the murder of police officer John Frey, who was killed after he said he was about to stop a "known Black Panther vehicle," a van occupied by two men. Later, police found Newton in the hospital with a gunshot wound to​ the stomach. There wasn't any concrete evidence to convict Newton, so many people thought it was a plot to eliminate the Black Panthers. He was convicted of voluntary manslaughter, and sentenced to 2-15 years.

    Starts Free Breakfast for Children Program and fights police brutality
    Was created because black people were going hungry and Black Panthers felt it was necessary that children have a nourishing breakfast in order to learn. Took place in 19 cities and fed 20,000 African American, school-age children. It was run through donations by concerned citizens in the communities being served. This program was a great help at feeding the children of the poor who otherwise would have gone hungry and whose problems would have been ignored.

  • J. Edgar Hoover leads FBI investigations into Black Panther activities

    The FBI director, J. Edgar Hoover, said the the Black Panther party was without question the greatest threat to internal security in the country. In 1969 he pledged that this would be the last year of the party's existence. To accomplish his task he instructed recipients to “submit imaginative and hard-hitting counter-intelligence measures aimed at crippling the Black Panther Party”

    Three biggest accomplishments of the Black Panthers
    To start, The Black Panther Party empowered the African American community and the civil rights movement. The Black Panther Party also instituted numerous community social programs, one of the most successful being The Free Breakfast for Children programs and the second being community health clinics to address food problems. The Party made the greatest impacts in Okland, San Francisco, Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Seattle.
  • Problems they continue to face

    African Americans continue to fight for equality, many still face racism and discrimination everyday whether it's in the workplace, at school or at home. Also, African Americans have been victims of recent, very unnecessary, police brutality that has resulted in death. Many protests by the Black Lives Matter campaign has show the incredible amount of dislike African Americans have for the unnecessary discrimination and police brutality.
