The battle lasted for a month attacking the radar stations. 401 Squadron is the only Royal Canadian Airforce member of the 11 group. The blitz lasted for 57 nights, failed to destroy the Royal Air Force and Hitler ended Operation Sea Lion. Reference:

The Royal Rifles of Canada and the Winnipeg Grenadiers sailed from Vancouver to Hongkong to help defend the Hongkong from Japan. They were the first Canadian units to fight in the Second World War. Reference:

The Allied forces were not strong enough so while in retreat they mount a major raid on the French port of Dieppe. Canadians made up the great majority of the attackers. The raid was supported by eight Allied destroyers and 74 Allied air squadrons, eight belonging to the Royal Canadian Airforce. Out of the 4,963 Canadians who embarked for the operation, only 2,210 returned to England. Reference:

Canada plays a major role in liberating Italy during the Second World War. During this campaign, there were 25,264 Canadian casualties in the fighting including more than 5,900 who were killed. Reference:

During the summer, the inexperienced Canadian soldiers fought a powerful army and many men died. It was a bloody process but once they learned the harsh lessons of battle, Canada's amateur soldier proved to be a match to their professional soldiers. Reference:
