Artistic Development Timeline-ECCE 1113

  • Birth to 3 Months

    Birth to 3 Months
    Activity #1: Gently rocking and swaying the newborn while softly singing "Rock-a-Bye baby". Activity #2: We will take the newborn outside to hear soothing sounds such as birds chirping, the wind blowing, wind chimes in the wind, etc.
  • 3 to 8 Months

    3 to 8 Months
    Activity #1: Encouraging baby to laugh and smile by playing "Pat-a-Cake" and singing/gesturing "The Wheels on the Bus." Activity #2: We will read nursery rhymes at nap time and sing the baby soothing lullabies.
  • 8 to 18 Months

    8 to 18 Months
    Activity #1: We will provide the child the opportunity to explore drawing with crayons. Activity #2: We will play music for the child and encourage/move the child's hands, feet, arms, and legs to the beat of the music.
  • 18 to 24 Months

    18 to 24 Months
    Activity #1: We will give the child access to a drum, piano, xylophone, and a tambourine to play with. Activity #2: We will offer the child play dough and supervise him/her while they explore and experiment with the play dough.
  • 24 to 36 Months

    24 to 36 Months
    Activity #1: We will take a field trip to a child-friendly puppetry museum. Activity #2: We will play dress-up with a community partners theme. (fire fighters, doctors, police officers, post man/woman, etc.)
  • 3 to 4 Years

    3 to 4 Years
    Activity #1: We will construct a collage using glue, paper, scissors, and magazine cut outs. Activity #2: The child will observe their-self in the mirror while dancing.
  • 4 to 5 Years

    4 to 5 Years
    Activity #1: The child will create music using empty containers. Example-You can put dry beans into an empty coffee container and it will become a drum or maraca. You can also cut a milk carton and attach strings to it and it could easily become a guitar. Activity #2: The child will be asked to recreate a drawing from one of their favorite books or television shows.
  • 5 to 8 Years

    5 to 8 Years
    Activity #1: The child will write a simple poem and will have the option to recite it. Activity #2: We will practice improv. I will give the child/children random topics off the top of my head and they can practice improving the situation. They will be encouraged to use imaginary props.
