    Balfour Declaration
    The Balfour Declaration was a letter to the leader of a british commuinity from the UK's foreign secretary. Within the declaration he asked for a national home for the Jews within Palestine. This was done because of the sympathy for the Jews, and supported a Jewsish homeland.

    The Holocaust was the start of the Nazis' racial bigotry when they attempted to kill all the Jews. In the Holocaust a strong nation took over a certain group of people, with goals of instiguishing them all. The end result was the murder of close to 6 million Jews.

    The UN Partition Plan for Palestine was a plan to replace the British Mandate for Palestine with "Independent Arab and Jewish States" and a "Special International Regime for the City of Jerusalem". Late 1947, the General Assembly adopted a resolution. The plan was accepted by Jews, and rejected by Arabs. War broke out immediatley after.

    Following the 1948 war, three more wars broke out between Israel and Arabs. The third war lasted six days, June 5-11. Israel made great territorial gains, such as seizing East Jerusalem from the Arabs. Israelis defended the war as a military effort to counter what the Israelis saw as an attack by Arab nations that surrounded Israel.

    On the holiest day of prayer and fasting in the Jewish calendar, another war broke out. To try and regain lost land from the six day war, it started with a surprise Arab attack on Israel. On Saturday 6th October 1973. Israel was able to push back its invaders and negotiated a cease-fire organized by the UN.

    The Camp David Accords were the result of 18 months of diplomatic efforts by Egypt, Israel, and the United States that began after Jimmy Carter became President. Egyptian President, Anwar El Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin signed a peace treaty at Camp David. This was the first Arab nation to recognize Israel. Arab nations were angered at Egypt for making peace with Israel.

    Invasion of Lebanon
    The 1982 Lebanon War began when Israel defense foreces invaded southern Lebanon. They launched this mission when there as an attempt assasination of Israel's ambassador of th UK. During the course of the operation, the Israeli Air Force scored a victory over the Syrians shooting down Syrian planes and also destroying Syrian anti-aircraft missile batteries, with no air to air losses of its own. Later in the year an agreement was reached and ore than 14,000 PLO combatants evacuated Lebanon.
  • Intifada

    Intifada
    Called "The Shaking", the Intifada was a mass uprising of Palestinians against Israel. During the first couple years of the uprising, more than 3,600 Molotov cocktail attacks, 100 hand grenade attacks and 600 assaults with guns or explosives were reported by the Israel Defense Forces. The violence was directed at soldiers and civilians. Palestinians organized strikes against Israeli businesses and soldiers, as they grew angry by Israel’s military rule.Israel jailed and deported any Palestinians.
