Louisana Purchase
It was the land purchase made by the United States by President Thomas Jefferson. He bought it from France for what is now $15,000,000. He meant to just buy New Orleans but was offered the entire territory for only 5 million more by Napolean Bonepart. This move opted for more expansion and exploration. -
Lewis and Clark Expedition
It was an expedition also known as the Corps of Discovery, designed for two men selected by the president to explore the newly founded Louisiana Purchase. these two men were Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. they had to find a sea route to the pacific and along the way record everything they saw and all their new discoveries. :) -
Sacegawea
In the winter, Lewis and Clark stay in an idian village and meet pregnant indian mother, Sacegawea. She speaks english and knows the land well to help them on their journey. -

Andrew Jackson passed this act forcing all native americans to move further westward making way for American settlers. THey had to go west of the MIssissippi River in exchange for their homelands. -
Republic of Texas
Texians (imigrants from the United States in the Mexican state of Coahuila y Tejas) declare the independence of the Republic of Texas from Mexico.Texians force captured General Antonio de Padua María Severino López de Santa Anna y Pérez de Lebrón to sign the Treaties of Velasco recognizing the independence of the Republic of Texas. Mexico never ratifies these treaties. -
Trail of Tears
Following the Indian Removal Act, the Cherokee and other native tribes were forced to move. They didn't want to and they took their case to the Supreme Court and won! But President Jackson ignored this and ordered the US army to capture every native they could find and force them to move west. More than 4000 Cherokee died in this treacherous journey known as the trail of tears where the natives were forced to walk about 2,200 miles (3,500 km) a fifth of their population died along the way -
Oregan Trail
People traveled on the Oregon Trail in wagons in order to settle new parts of the US. Most of the wagons used were pulled by oxen. Hundreds of thousands of people traveled this trail looking for a new life, land, and new beginnings. the trail stretched 2000 miles west through 6 states. they crossed all sorts of terrain such as the rockies and it was very dangerous. most families traveled in covered wagons. it was a hazardous journey. the trail lasted until 1869 when a railroad was installed. -
Mormon Pilgrimage
The Mormon pioneers were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), who migrated across the United States from the Midwest to the Salt Lake Valley in what is today the U.S. state of Utah. The journey was taken by about 70,000 Mormons after the assassination of Mormon founder, Joseph Smith. They did this journey with wagon trains -
Mexican American War
It was a war between the US and superpower Mexico. Combat operations lasted a year and a half, from spring 1846 to fall 1847. American forces quickly occupied New Mexico and California, then invaded parts of Northeastern Mexico and Northwest Mexico; meanwhile, the Pacific Squadron conducted a blockade, and took control of several garrisons on the Pacific coast further south in Baja California. Another American army captured Mexico City, and the war ended in victory of the U.S. -
