  • Why did America become involved in Cuba?

    After Cuba got their independence in 1898, America had the right supervised their finance and foreign relation because Cuba wouldnt survive without them. In the 1950s, Cuba was heavily influenced by America which no Cuban government was elected.
  • How did tensions develop between Cuba and America?

    In 1959, Batista the President of Cuba was overthrowned by Fidel Castro. Fidel Castro was a better president then Batista because he promised to end the American corruption.
  • How did the USA react to the Cuban revolutionary?

    The USA didnt like it because now a comunist country is close to America, and also alot of their companies in Cuba was given to the people of Cuba. So America reacted by puting economic sanctions to Cuba, and later in 1960 they planned to remove Castro.

    Castro become more popular since he stopped the American invasion. 20 months later America made a deal with Castro, the deal was to exchange the prisoners with goods so America gets the prisoners and Castro gets goods from America. Castro accepted and recieved baby food and medicine which worth $53 million
  • The Bay of Pigs Invasion

    America wanted to remove Castro and replace him with a new president called Jose Miro Cardona. In order to remove Castro, America made a plan which is to send 1400 Cuban exiles to march on Havanna. So if the plan worked, the exile Cubans will gain support from the Cuban population and then remove Castro.
  • Failure of the plan

    The Bay of Pigs invasion was a failure because America failed both objectives which was to remove Castro and also they had to take full responsiblity of the attack.The plan didnt work because of poor secracy, failure to control the air, failure to gain support, and not enough troop.
