European countries trying to take over Africa and to prevent war the gathered at Berlin and decided to split Africa up into areas. -

Boers declared war and attacked British. In revenge the British burned down farms, homes and crops of the Boers. -
Ending of the Boer Wars
They signed a treaty called The treaty of Vereeniging in 1902 and ends the Boer Wars -
Gold
With Gols being discovered during the Boer Wars, British colonies in South Africa began producing 1/3 of the world gold.
