AFL (Goal Kicking Routine)

  • Approach

    Make sure you start your run up from far enough away from the man on the mark
  • Facing Target

    When you are lining up for goal make sure your body and the ball are facing the target, which in this case is the goals
  • Ball

    Make sure you are holding the ball with two hands as you begin your run up, as you gain momentum and are about to kick, take one hand off to steady you body while the other hand guides it onto your boot
  • Ball

    Make sure the ball drop is low to your boot at release to maximise accuracy and reduce margin for error
  • Kicking

    Make sure no kicking leg is planted far enough in front to gain momentum and kicking leg follows through towards your target (goals) once you have kicked
