    Pope Pius VII had the walls of the Jewish Ghetto in Rome rebuilt after the Jews were released by Napoleon

    Pogroms became endemic during a large-scale wave of anti-Jewish riots that swept Russia for about thirty years starting in 1881.

    Thousands of Jewish homes were destroyed, many families reduced to extremes of poverty; women sexually assaulted, and large numbers of men, women, and children killed or injured in 166 Russian towns.

    When World War I broke out Hitler immediately volunteered for the German army and joined the 16th Bavarian Reserve Infantry Regiment. He served throughout the war, was wounded in October 1916, and was gassed two years later. He was hospitalized when the conflict ended

    In January 1919 representatives from 32 different countries met in the Palace of Versailles in France. By now the First World War had ended and the countries met to decide what was to be done about the defeated countries. These countries were Germany, Austria-Hungary, Turkey and Bulgaria. None of these countries were invited to speak at the conference. Russia was also not invited to speak at the conference because they made peace with Germany in the War and gave Germany some land.

However they disagreed on what should be done with the defeated countries. · Wilson wanted lasting peace so they wouldn't need to go to War again.
    · Clemenceau wanted revenge on Germany because most of the battles had taken place in France.
    · Lloyd George wanted Germany to be punished but not so much that Germany would fight back

To publicize the meeting, he sent out two truckloads of Party supporters to drive around with swastikas, cause a big commotion, and throw out leaflets, the first time this tactic was used by the Nazis.
  • Reichstag Caught Fire

    On 27th February, 1933, the Reichstag caught fire. When they police arrived they found Marinus van der Lubbe on the premises. After being tortured by the Gestapo he confessed to starting the Reichstag Fire. However he denied that he was part of a Communist conspiracy. Hermann Goering refused to believe him and he ordered the arrest of several leaders of the German Communist Party.
