    Storming Bastille
    The attack on Bastille, a prison in Paris, occurred because rumors led the citizens of France to believe that King Louis had plans to invade their country with military force. This upset the people, and led them to attack the prision. The attackers took more than 100 lives.     French Constitution of 1791 Gets Signed
    On September 3rd, 1971, King Louis XVI signed the new French Constitution. The National Assembaly created this document to state the freedoms and rights of the citizens fo France. This took a lot of authority away from King Louis XVI and was signed to keep a revolution from happeneing. This is important to the French Revolution becacause it was one of many steps taken to retain the Monarchy in France that eventually failed. The people of France needed more than just a few basic freedoms.

    Reign of Terror Begins
    In early 1973, Maximilien Robespierre started to gain support and lead France. He was a terrible leader, and during the time he was supported he almost acted as a dictator. He changed the calendar to exclude Sunday because religion was considered old and dangerous during this time. He was a selfish and cruel leader. This was important to the French Revolution because after Robespierre led, they knew what
    they didn’t want in a leader.

    Cause of Death? Revolution.
    During 1973 and 1974, many revolutionaries received the death sentence. Leader of the Committee of Public Safety, Maximilien Robespierre, handed out these sentences because he felt it would danger French's economy and government to have protesters. Robespierre connected virtue with terror and often threatened the people whom he ruled. This was important to revolution because it enraged people who
    supported the revolution, creating more aggravation.

    End of the Reign of Terror
    On July 28, 1794 Robespierre was arrested. The people that once suported him changed their oppinions drastically. They citizens of France were tired of living in fear and spending money on costly taxes. A new government was going to be put into place. This new government put the power in the hands of the upper middle class. This was important because now the poeple of France know how a country should not be run.

  • Napoleon's Big Break

    Napoleon's Big Break
    Napoleon is chosen to lead a French army against the forces of Austria and the Kingdom of Sardinia. His great sucsess gets him recognized, and this led to Napoleon's seize of power. In early November he brought his troops up to the legislature building and drove out most of it's members. This is an important event because it leads Napoleon to become the dictator of France.

    In December of 1804, Napoleon chose to make himself emporor. The people of France suported him, he brought great peace and order to France. he set up efficient and fair means of collecting taxes and trading with other countries. His main goal was to restore France. This is important because Fracne had a leader they could depend on, finally.

    Costly Mistakes
    In June of 1812, Napoleon's blockade against the rest of Europe backfired on the country. Napoleon had tried to invade Russia, but he had not considered the climate of the foreign country. The temperatures were dropping by the time the army retreated from Moscow after the victory. The tired army was giving up, and that's when the Russian army struck. This is important because Napoleon's empire is falling apart at the
    seams.

    Napoleon's Downfall
    In January, King Frederick William III of Prussia and Czar Alexander I of Russia defeated Napoleon’s troops. They invaded Paris and made Napoleon surrender. His troops weren’t prepared for battle. In April, Napoleon gave up his throne. This is important to the Revolution because now the people of France have been defeated, and they have no other option than to reform and stand on their own.

  • Napoleon's Last Battle

    Napoleon's Last Battle
    In March of 1815, Napoleon escaped from Elba and flew back to Paris to ressume power. Later, in June, he would attempt to attack thr British forces that had taken the throne from him. The British and the Prussian forces attacked the French attacked, and brought down Napoleon. This is important because this is the last major battle in the French Revolution.
