Tradgedy
In 1956 my mother died of breast cancer. I was just 14. Although the incedent greatly affected me, I took up playing guitar to get my mind off of what happened. The incident was also the inspiration for The Beatle's most famous song, "Let It Be."(1970) -
The Beatles are formed
I met John Lennon at Woolton Village fair and joined his skiffle group, the Quarrymen, which after several name changes, became the Beatles. We went from place to place in Germany preforming until we had our first mega hit, "My Bonny." -
The Beatles get signed
In 1962 the band and I got signed with with EMI-Parlophone. At this point, Lennon and I were the ones writing most of the material. Some of our first songs were "Love Me Do" and Please Please Me." -
Beatlemania Begins
BeatlemaniaI Wanna Hold Your HandAfter having chart topping hits such as 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand' We reached new heights of celebrity in 1964 when we first visited the U.S. and went on the Ed Sullivan Show. People all over the world became crazed by our band. -
Last Concert
Last ConcertOur last concert was on the roof of Apple Corps in London. The only eyewitnesses were Apple staff and the film crew, though dozens of people could hear us in the surrounding buildings, and Savile Row below. Even some people were on the roofs of the surronding builidings trying to watch. -
First wife
I had met Linda at a club called the Bag ‘O Nails in 1967.She was an American photographer, musician and animal rights activist. I adopted Heather Louise, born of Linda's previous marriage, in 1969. We later had three children together: Mary Anna, Stella Nina, and James Louis. Linda dies in 1998 due to breast cancer. -
Solo Album
I released my first solo album in 1970, just before the breakup of The Beatles. I also formed my own band, Wings, which included my wife, Linda. Of the nine albums credited to Wings during the group's life, all went top 10 in either the UK or the US, with five consecutive albums topping the US charts. -
The Beatles breakup
It all started when our manager Brian Epstein died, he kept the peace between the four of us and was a friend, not only a manager. None of us were capable of being buisnessmen and we each got our own ideas of going solo due to tension. -
Becoming a knight
Across the UniverseAt age 54I was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace in Central London for my "services to music." To this day i'm referred to Sir Paul McCartney.
