Gen 17:9: Then God said to Abraham, “As for you, you must keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you for the generations to come.
- The verse connects to Joseph's life because he is one of the main descendants to carry out God's covenant with Abraham. Joseph would go on to carry out the covenant because he basically formed the basis of what was known as the nation of Israel back then. -
Gen 22
How does God continue to advance his mission to reflect His glory in this story?
God shows his glory in this story by letting us know that He will do great things if we just listen to Him. The story is a very extreme example of this but God needed to test Abraham's faith one more time to see if he had what it took. We can see that because Abraham followed God's instrucitons without hesitation, He was able to build a whole nation out of Abraham and his descendants. -

Romans 11
This connects to the Old Testament verse because it shows that the Covenant has almost been fulfilled and is working. God said that Abraham would have descendants to populate a whole nation, and the verse supports that this became true. It says in Romans 11:1 that even the tribe of Benjamin is a part of Israel and they too count for the descendants of Abraham. God has been loyal to the covenant and we can see that clearly in the New Testament especially. -

Genesis 12:1-4 states that Abraham shall take all his stuff and leave his country behind for the greater good of God. God promises to bless Abraham in return and make him a great nation. Some parts of these verses relate to me because in my life I've moved to another school almost every year. This has been hard because I had to leave everything I knew behind to go and seek something new out. Yet I can relate to Abraham because I had little trouble doing so thanks to the help of God.

Gen 15:14 says that If Israel serves as a nation's slaves, God will punish the nation and give great posessions to Israel. This is seen by the wars in Israel going on for decades now. The wars started when Israel wanted to claim the territory that God had proclaimed to them. The problem with this was that there was already another country settled here. We can see the God has given Israel great posessions now because they contol most parts of thei land that God had promiesd them.
