In Genesis 22, God calls Abraham to sacrifice Isaac on Mount Moriah. However, right before Abraham is about to kill his son, God provides a lamb to sacrifice in his place. This foreshadows Jesus' death. Instead of having man (Isaac) pay for our sins, God provided Jesus (the lamb) as a sacrifice. God knew all along that He would have to sacrifice His only son.

Genesis 27:5-25 shows Rebekah favoring Jacob over Esau. She wanted Jacob to receive the blessing instead of his brother. Even though Jacob didn't deserve the blessing and Esau was chosen to inherit it, Jacob received it in the end, which means that he had been the chosen one all along. This relates to the New Testament because Jesus didn't deserve to die for our sins, but yet he did, which makes him the chosen one after all.

John 17:24 is Jesus saying that God loved him before the creation of the world. In order for God to love Jesus, he would have to have known him; as well as known that he would have died on the cross for everyone's sins while remaining blameless. That was all a part of God's greater plan. In the same way, before Jacob and Esau were born, God would have already chosen Jacob to inherit the blessing, even though at the time it might have seemed like Esau would receive the blessing.

In Genesis 17:17-21, God says that He will bless Abraham's descendants Isaac and Ishmael by making them into two great nations. However, Isaac and Ishmael were depicted as rivals; the chosen one against the outcast. This can be seen in the modern-day conflict between Islams and Christians, the two most popular religions. This fulfills in the covenant in the way that their descendants became numerous, but also in the way that there is conflict between them for the holy land.

In Genesis 31- Jacob, Rachel, and Leah took everything and fled from Laban, who had once provided for him. When I was younger, I took money from my parents without telling them so that I could buy candy for my friends. I took something from my providers and "ran away" with it. In Genesis, it says that Laban's attitude towards him had changed, but Jacob shouldn't have fled behind his back. I could've asked my parents for money, but instead I took it behind their backs.
