2.1 Self Assessment

  • Assessing My Personal Health

I would say I am pretty healthy. Everyday, I get up, go to school, come home/do homework, go to soccer, come home/do more homework again, and finally go to sleep. Also, I would say I have a healthy diet and am involved in church too. I may not be very balanced though. For example, I have spiritual, environmental, occupational, intellectual and physical wellness, but I lack social and emotional wellness. I get stressed a lot; with school and soccer, it is hard to find time to have a social life.
  • Do Healthy Behaviors Affect One's Overall Health Status?

Behaviors can affect your health status not only emotionally, but physically as well. Healthy behaviors let us adopt healthful habits, while avoiding destructive habits. Also, healthy behaviors lead to an overall balance of wellness. For example, if you have a healthy behavior, you can adopt a diet/keep your body in shape. If you don’t, then you could get dragged into drugs, parties, and other things that may hurt you in the future.

The Interrelationships of Emotional, Intellectual, Physical, and Social Health

Emotional, intellectual, physical, and social health are all connected. Emotionally, we need to be able share feelings on situations at hand. It contributes to our social wellness because we need to be emotionally stable to interact with others. Our physical health can affect our emotional and intellectual health as well. For example, if you don’t feel comfortable with the way you look, then you might be depressed emotionally.

Also, if you aren’t physically in shape or haven’t been taking care of yourself, it can affect your intellectual health. Since your physical health can affect your emotional health, it affects your social health, too. Also, if you do not have good physical health, you might not be able concentrate in class or get as good of grades as to when you would if you were taking care of yourself physically. All of these types of health affect one another, whether it be positive or negative.
