In the 1820's there were temperance movement where people were protesting the consumption of alcohol and wanted the government to pass laws restricting or banning alcohol because of its negative effects. -
Abolitionism
Enslaved men, women, and children in the British Empire finally became fully free after a period of forced apprenticeship following the passing of the Slavery Abolition Act in 1833.
