Introduced by Steve Jobs of Apple, the first personal mouse-driven computer with Graphical User Interface was introduced in 1984. It was based on Motorola 68000 microprocessor and came with MacPaint and MacWrite as its applications.

Invented by William Atkinson, an Apple Engineer, the HyperCard was stacks of information with hypertext links between stacks of pages. While this may sound confusing, it eventually led to the creation of Internet HTTP and JavaScript, two devices we still use today when browsing the internet! The HyperCard was standalone, meaning you could only click through to other cards on the same computer versus people producing their own linked cards.

While Apple is known for their many successes, this Portable Computer was not a hit in the '80s. It was heavy, weighing almost sixteen pounds, and costing around $6,500. This product was essentially a failure at the time. Even though it wasn't the best, it paved the way for future portable computers.
