It was the first of its kind to offer a small system then still allow for upgrades as it time went on without having to get a new system.

In 1967 Robert Dennard invented the first Dynamic Random Access Memory also known as DRAM. While RAM was already a known concept it was often impractical, and Dennard's DRAM was much smaller only using a single transistor.

In 1967 David L. Noble and a group of engineers went out to create a way to load instructions and software to mainframe computers. They came up with a slim magnetic mylar disk that could be inserted to the computer. This idea worked and would continue to be utilized till the 1990's.

In 1969 UNIX was invented by Bell Labs. This was an operating system and found much popularity once it came out. It created a way of timesharing between systems and a file management organization.
