  • Z4

    Z4
Created by Konrad Zuse the Z4 was the first commercial computer and the only computer in continental Europe at the time. It enhanced from the Z3 model using 32-bit memory and had the ability to use punch cards to encode information in binary.
  • UNIVAC

    UNIVAC
First American designed commercial electronic digital computer by J. Presper Eckert & John Mauchly with fast execution of arithmetic and data transport operations. Weighed 16,000 pounds, had 5,000 vacuum tubes, and could calculate about 1,000 calculations per second. This was an improvement from the EDVAC that used 6,000 vacuum tube.
  • IBM 701

    IBM 701
The IBM 701 was the first electronic computer manufactured in large- scale. It was also the first IBM machine to store programs in electronic memory.
  • TRADIC

    TRADIC
TRADIC known as the Transistorized Digital Computer was invented by Bell Labs and built by Jean Howard Felker. It had 800 transistors, took up the space of .085 cubic feet, used 100 watts of power, and could perform 1 million operations per second.
  • FORTRAN

    FORTRAN
FORTRAN was the first widely used high level programming language developed by John Backus of IBM. This language had functionality that went beyond the paper design of punch cards and binary language.
