1817 American School for the Deaf
The nation's first special education school that provided programs and services for the deaf and the hard-of-hearing people from birth through adulthood. The school offered an alternative education programs for students with emotional behavioral disorders. ASD also offered services to include speech and language service, aural habilitation, and cochlear implant support.
