  • The Social Contract

    The Social Contract
    The Social Contract was made in France in the year 1762. The Social Contract was a book that encouraged freedom for all. The Social Contract effected the 18th century by allowing the people to be freer. Therefore the people who didn’t follow the contract were then punished.
  • The First Fleet

    The First Fleet
    The First Fleet took place in 1787 on the 13th of May. There were 11 ships involved in the first fleet who left Great Britain. The cause of the First Fleet was to established the first European colony in Australia, more than half of the people were free settlers, the other half were convicts. The effect of the First Fleet is that they impacted upon Australia’s land and natives.

    The Penal Colony was established on the date 26th January 1788 when the first fleet arrived in Port Jackson, Australia. The cause of the Penal Colony was the settlement established from the overseas ships which was a form of imprisonment. After arriving to the land they were sentenced to labour, this was the effect of the penal colony.

    The British Empire started to take place in the 17th century. This event ended to become the world’s largest formal empire. The cause of the British Empire was due to the strength of their army and the domination of their war. The British Empire became so big because of them trying to bring together people and the cultures. This modern day affect of the British Empire because of multiculturalism and immigration.

    The end of convict transportation in NSW
    Between 1830 and 1840 the end of convict transportation in NSW. This was the first and strongest transportation system at the time. The end of convict transportation was caused by an increase in free migrants traveling to Australia. When convict transportation ended in NSW it stopped people from all over the world from travelling to Australia for free.

    John Batman was the founder of Melbourne in the 1830’s. John Batman was also the first settler in the Melbourne Area. John Batman was also the only white person to acknowledge the Aboriginal people. The effects that John Batman had on the society was that he had founded the very busy Melbourne.

    Caroline Chisholm
    Caroline Chisholm was born on 30th of May in the year 1808. Caroline Chisholm immigrated to Sydney 1838. While Caroline was in Sydney she saw many women on the streets by themselves. From her experience of this she decided to build a shelter which helped over the amount of 10 thousand women. From the women getting helped by Caroline Chisholm they had extra time to go and find themselves a good job.

    Australian Football originated in Melbourne, Australia 1859. The person who invented Australian Football was Tom Willis, Tom Willis also organized the first match of Football. The effects that Australian Football has had on the world includes excellent entertainment and more jobs.
  • Anzac Day

    Anzac Day
    On the 25th of April 1915, the Australian Troops of World War I (WWI) landed on the Galliopli peninsula in Turkey. Australian Troops were commanded to go to Gallipoli Island which is the cause of this event. The troops were met with the high powered weapons of the Turkish. The short term effect of this event was that many Australian and Turkish troops were killed in action. It led to the development of the ANZAC legend as we know it today and the annual ANZAC commemoration day.

    First Battle of Bullecourt
    The Battle of Bullecourt started on the 11th of April 1917. The Battle of Bullecourt was caused by a General who wanted to take attack at Bullecourt. This decision was made because the General wanted to support an important offensive. The effect that the battle of Bullecourt had on the people was that about 3,000 Australians had died and the people that had survived are now facing the memories of being there. After the Australians and the Germans fought the Australia’s had won.

    The second battle of Bullecourt
    The second battle of Bullecourt started on the 3rd of May 1917. The cause of the second battle of Bullecourt was that a British attacker and a France attacker had a disagreement. The effect that this battle had upon the people was the mental distress of being there and over 10,000 soldiers were killed or wounded. France were victorious.

    James Watt
    In 1781 James Watt invented the steam engine to drive machinery. The reason why he invented the steam engine to drive machinery was so it would be easier to pump the water out of the mines. This effected the world back then by them getting more water and keeping their fluids up.
