  • The Slave Trade (Movement of Peoples)

The Slave Trade (Movement of Peoples)
The Slave Trade was a form of trade used in the Australian Settlement. It consisted of trading slaves in exchange for food or goods. The cause of the Slave Trade was mainly the Industrial Revolution; the fact that if they were able to use more people, more production would take place, therefore more money for the suppliers. Although the theory worked, increasing economic income immensely, the consequence was more than the reward; innocent beings were treated poorly and inhumanely.

    Thomas Hobbes (Introductory Overview)
Thomas Hobbes was the first major figure in the Enlightenment. He is best known for the Leviathan, a phenomenon that explores human nature. The book also spoke about how everything was explainable in terms of matter, and includes a variety of theories that revolve around how men misuse power, and men with no rules exploit freedom. Prisons became overcrowded and Australia was settled so that Europeans could bring convicts over. After a period of time, more of Australia became colonised. B

    Steam Powered/Iron-Clad Battleships (Imperialism)
Steam Powered and Iron-Clad Battleships were created to enhance travel by the French Navy in the mid 1800's. They were also able to provide faster transport, tighter manoeuvrability and more accurate fire at sea. They also served well when one was invading another country, as their large appearence and steel frame was extremelly intimidating. They also allowed the Navy to navigate through new areas that were not accessible before, thanks to it's new ability to move through tight rivers/streams.
  • The Assassination of Franz Ferdinand (World War I)

The Assassination of Franz Ferdinand (World War I)
The Assassination of Frank Ferdinand and his wife is thought to have the biggest association to the beginning of World War I. As the heir to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, he was killed in the city of Sarajevo, a part of Bosnia. He was shot by a Serbian terrorist, and this is what erupted the outbreak of war. Because Europeans were allies of Hungary, immediately they had to honour their promise. So a world war began: Austria-Hungary and Germany on one side against France, Great Britain and Russia.
