    He served in the army from 1917-1919. He was enlisted into the army. The highest rank that he got up to was Corporal. His location of service during WWI was France. He had gotten typed letter from John J. Pershing congratulating him on his successful conclusion of the war.

    WWI started over the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand on June 28th 1914. This then made a lot of stuff happen to make WWI. The Central powers attacked some of the Allied Powers which then trigger WWI.

    On July 30 1914 Russia decided to mobilize and fight while moving. Austrian warships bombarded Belgrade, capital of Serbia. On the 31st is when Russia reacted to the attack and decided to do something about that. On that same day Russia decided to mobilize their troops. They mobilized every single on of their troops and attacked.

    On April 22 1915 Germany introduced everyone to the poison gas they started all of the gas stuff. They fired a lot of gas at the allied powers to help win the war. They fired 150 tons of lethal chlorine gas. They fired it against two French colonial divisions at Ypres Belgium. This was the first major gas attack by the Germans.

    On May 7 1915 the Lusitania ship was sunken. This ship had lots of Americans on it and it was a traveler ship was not a military ship. Germany made submarine warfare on the ship because they thought it was a military ship coming in to attack. It was torpedoed by a Germany U-Boat. During the attack 128 Americans were killed and many other people from Britain.

    On September 18 1915 Germany limited submarines. This meant that Germany told all of its rivals that if there were any untold ships in there area it would get sunk. Untold ships mean that like if America said we are sending a ship and Germany said ok then they couldn't bomb that ship. But if America just sent the sip without telling them then they could sink that ship if they wanted to.

    On September 15 1916 the first tanks were used in battle by the British. They were first used by the British at Delville Woods. They could break down building and destroy stuff they were big targets. They were slow and they had small spaces for people to sit in and it was hard for them to steer them. The people that have destined them and built them thought that they would be way more effective and deadly then they are right now.

    The Zimmerman Telegram message was sent in 1917. The message was sent to the German ambassador in Mexico. The message was telling him that they have started their first submarine warfare. And it was also telling him to call the president about it as soon as he could.

    On April 6 1917 the United States of America enters WWI. When the United States entered the war they were going into the war against Germany mostly. Germany bomb their ships with submarine wars. The United States entered WWI on the French and Britain side of the war. Because they were all going against Germany.

    On December 15 1917 Forbes Allen was officially in the Army. He was enlisted at Ft.Slocum NY. He was a private in the Army. on the second of July 1919 they moved him over to a camp. The camp he got moved to was Camp Devans in Massachusetts.

    On March 3 1918 Germany and Russia decided to make peace and not fight. The terms of the treaty gives them accses to lots of land the land used to be owned by Poland and the Ukraine. Also this made Germany able to move all of their troops over to the west side of the war. This caused some problems for the french and british and Americans.

    On June 26 1918 the war at Belleau woods ended. The war at Belleau woods ended with a final explosion. The explosion was committed by the Germans. This then marked the furthest German advance on Paris.

    On September 12 1918 the battle of St. Mihiel was taking place. The battle happend when there were 300,000 American troops were in front of germanys troops. They were in front of the germany lines.

    On November 9 1918 Kaiser Wilhelm abdicates when he did this this ended all of Germanys hope of victory. Then he secretly went over the neatherlands border and that is where he lived out his life. He also wrote a self promoting memoir when he was there. It was about him defending his actions in war.

    On November 11 1918 Armistice day happend. This day was when they signed saying no more fighting on the Western Front. This meant that it was now against the law to fight on the Western Front. So that ended all of the fighting on the Western Front.
