  • Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand:

    Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand:
    The Archduke, heir presumptive to Austria-Hungary's throne, plus his wife, Sophie, are assassinated by Gavrilo Princip when they were visiting Sarajevo, Bosnia. This assassination triggered the first world war. Austria-Hungary declares war against Serbia. Later, Germany stepped in the war against Russia, triggered all other nations to war.

    Germany vs. France
    Germany declares war against France. World War 1 was the Triple Entente vs. the Central Powers, but the U.S was neutral at the time. Triple Entente, derives from the French word “entente” (friendship, understanding, agreement), was the alliances between Britain, France, and Russia. However, the Central Powers was composed of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the German Empire, the Kingdom of Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire.

The peace treaty took place outside of Paris. The financial, general, military, and territorial parts of treaty left Germany in shambles.
