Writing Timeline

  • My Birthday!

Now obviously I had not began writing but this is when I was born to give my timeline a starting point.
  • Period: to

    Writing Timespan

  • Learning My Letters

I just began Kindergarten and had to work really hard at learning all my letters to be ready for writing in the first grade! I remember writing my name over and over again to make it just right.
  • Writing Books in the First Grade

My first grade teacher had us writing all the time. We were able to put all kinds of books together that we wrote and illustrated. She used small pieces of cardboard and wallpaper to create the front and back cover for our books.
  • Bigger and Better Books in the Fifth Grade!

I also got to write and illustrate a book in the fifth grade! I remember this very clearly and it is one of a few pieces of writing I own that I am proud of. We were able to share it with other students in the building and it was a greate experience!
  • The only writing memories I have from middle and high school

I can't say writing was my thing in school, I can't really say school was my thing. Being social was my thing! I remember in middle school writing in notebooks for individual friends. Also writing notes in high school while boing bored in math class and thinking of every which way to fold it. I guess I wrote a lot in middle and high school just not for the right reasons.
  • Some how I am now in College

Writing notes is really the only writing events I had for a long time. I realy tried to skate by and do as little work as possible in school. I was a very unmotivated student because school came rather easy for me so going into college I thought I was a terrible writer!
  • First College Writing Corse

I completly bombed my first college writing corse and had to retake it in the spring where I miraculously got an "A" out of the class. A stern talking from my dad and a graduate student teacher probably had a lot to do with this but it really helped to build my self esteem in writing.
  • The Second course got even better!

This is the class where I wrote the piece I am most proud of to this day. It was an informative paper on the Bernie Madoff ponzi scheme and how people were so unaware of how they are using their money. It was very enlightening for me and I found myself loving writing.
  • Classes throughout college

I have to say I have not taken to many other writing classes in college although I have done a lot of writing in college. I am a much more confident writer and I have progressed throughout the years.
  • Teaching Writing

This class is going to be very useful in my career as a teacher. I wish I could say I write all the time but I really don't. I have enjoyed writing to some of these prompts and I hope to create writers who want to write out of not only my students but myself.
